Menu Navigation Test

Project EsOhEn Menu Navigation Test #3 6/16/2015 Windows 8.1 x86 Standalone Development Build

I made some decent progress by figuring out how to implement a keyboard/game controller based menu system with Unity 5's UI components.

The next thing on my todo list is deciphering how to allow the player to rearrange the characters in the active party. I have a couple ideas to try out, hopefully I nail it on the first try.

The nifty GIF screen recording above was created painlessly using GifCam. It's free, and worked flawlessly. I will be putting this software to use quite a bit throughout the development of Project EsOhEn.

Project EsOhEn is a go.

After four long years of off and on part time development, it is finally time to bring this project to the forefront and into the light. Secret projects are a thing of the past, and it is far better for indie games to gain recognition before the game is complete.

So we at Bang Bang Attack Studios have chosen to start being more visible, and open with our development progress. This devlog will be home to the ups and downs, the good and the bad of the development of our largest and most complex game project ever.

Surge of Nephthys is an RPG of epic proportions. For being a 2D JRPG, the scope is still rather massive, and there is much to be done on all facets of the development. The way in which the game will play is the most important to us as avid gamers, so it should come as no surprise that the mechanics will be the number one focus.

The game has to be fun to play. If a feature doesn't add to the experience the player will have, then it will be overhauled or scrapped entirely. Next is the obvious one, the way the game looks. This is highly important for a successful project these days. So we will be putting only our absolute best work into this.

We are not a big studio. We do not currently have any funding for the game. We are passionate about this game, and will develop the game regardless of the time it takes. If we manage to get any funding in the future, that will help things go faster, allow us to hire more developers, and bring the absolute best game to the masses in a more timely manner. For now though, we will simply tread on through the muck and mire of the development process as we are able, and you can watch and follow along.

Welcome to Project EsOhEn. Enjoy your stay.
